Here we discuss the role of heat stress from climate change on kidney disease. The kidney is a major “barometer” for climate change.  Heat stress can cause acute kidney injury as part of the syndrome of heat stroke. However, chronic  recurrent heat stress can also be associated with the development of chronic kidney disease. Here  we discuss how epidemics of Chronic Kidney Disease in many parts of the world are likely related to heat stress and climate change.
