Podcast – Fructose and Pregnancy and Perinatal Issues

blogteamUncategorized

This is a discussion I had with pediatrician Christopher Magryta, who is a leading authority on nutrition in children. Here we discuss the perils associated with drinking soft drinks during pregnancy.  We also discuss the fructose paradox, as the fetus and placenta make fructose during the first few weeks to aid survival, but if fructose production continues into the second and third trimester, it is injurious, and may have a role in causing preeclampsia in the mother and low birth weight for the baby.
